you may want to change the thread title to 64-67 middle seat

I thought the WW seats were '67 style? So they were Bay also? How far back did they fit year-wise. Short of the diagonal, what is different on a '66? I think I know I just want to be sure.

The WW 67 style 3/4 middle seat had no provisions for the deluxe grab handle which was a negitive to me.

I was lucky to find a mint 67 only 3/4 middle and complete rear seat on The Samba !

Not cheap but a good deal.

I believe they only repopped a '67 full width middle seat, not a 3/4 (w/t) seat... and, the one they did make accepted all grabs. Early, mid. ('62-63), and late. A "3/4" seat is actually a "2/3" seat.

What is a deluxe grab handle for '67 vs not deluxe '67 on a middle seat?

I saw one of the repro short middle seats a WW display out in Fontanna Bug In. No grab handle provision. They told me it was a 67 only seat with no grab handles.

Now I see on their web site a full width seat. No more short available.

i wish to the gods that someone would pick up the torch and make seats again, theres no money to be made and of course the 5 or so people who claim they will need/buy them suddenly wont once you finish

i dont see myself making them ever again, they took too much time, extremely frustrating dealing with the folding mech as well. i only ever made the pre 56 seats because of their unavailablity/rarity and that the cost of them might appeal to someone with a bus thats worth big $$.

the 56-62 seat isnt going to fly off the shelf, nor would even the 63-66 seats, lets face it,vw owners by and large are cheapasses...me included,i heard many people thinking $500 was too much for ww repop......it was a steal

i couldnt agree with you more. And from another angle my phone hasnt stopped ringing people 'wanting' me to do work for them now ive left cali, but when i was in ca they wouldnt commit for me to do the work.....

While it's not always the case, one theme with repro parts is: nobody wants 'em until they're gone. People just assume they'll be available forever. I'm sure WW had a significant investment in those seats, which took years to recoup. In the current economy, it's probably hard to justify laying out that kind of cash again.

I would imagine it takes up alot of space in their warehouse to store 200 of those things, so that would be another thing to consider if their space is not endless.

Greg you hit it on the nose, it was 2 containers full, a LOT of warehouse space was consummed
