Hello all. What are your opinions regarding fiberglass replacement floor pans? I know they aren't true VW restoration items...but do they make sense for longevity?

I ask because I'm thinking about installing new Beard seats (with mounting brackets). I don't have any major rust but my current pans look pretty worn. I'd hatet to install new seats on potentially weak floor pans.

If your pans are original & have no major rust issues I would say stick with those. I would not think fiberglass would be as strong a steel. While you have the seats out you might think of cleaning the floor pan & applying por-15, then you will never have to worry about rust again.
I did this & installed Beard seats also, I think you will be glad you did.

Thanks Scott! That sounds like a plan. I've seen the praises posted regarding por-15. I'll give it a try.

How happy are you with the Beard seats? What model did you purchase? I'm very close to getting the Super-G type.

I like them. I do not know which model they are. They were about $200.00 a piece. I think they were a step up from the bottom, they have tweed middle & vinyl back & sides.
