Does anyone run this vintage Empi filter and if so, is it any good???
It was first shown on the Empi1958 catalog..not sure about running it yet as it seems 'too shiny' with the Judson.

Isn't there a big deal about putting the light plastic filters hanging between the pump and carb, so wouldn't this be a bigger issue with these? Im assuming they are heavier. Im not knocking it, I think they are cool, im just surprised at how many people fuss about normal filters and how nobody has said anything about this. I might be totally wrong, I have no experience with these.

Those look a lot like the AC/Delco filters that GM used on a bunch of their vehicles through the 50s and 60s.

Here is the AC filter, looks pretty much the same other than the finish on it. I was looking at these to run on my 67, but ended up getting an old "MilesMaster" combo filter and regulator off eBay instead.

Similar but not the same at all, the Empi filter has a porous brass filter rather than the paper type. Size is also different as the ac is smaller.

I think the problem with the pastic filter is the woven lines and the possibility of a line coming off or a tube in the carb or pump popping out.

The Empi has a threded inlet and outlet giving it security from failure and stability when in place. I wish VW had never gone to the slip on woven fuel lines. The metal lines and threaded connections were the best in my opinion. Not as quick for the general mechanic, but a lot safer.
