Installing alternator cooling boot?

In the past I have installed this boot from the alternator side with the fan removed, just kind of scrunched it in there and put the clip on from the fan side. Time consuming and awkward to get the spring clip in there, but that is how I have always done it.

This other 79Westy that I am working on, has a 70 amp alternator, with its own funky boot and I was wondering if someone has a better way of doing it. I could not visualize a better way, but maybe someone has?

that's the only way. i install it from below, then pull it into place from the fan hole.
