I know what you mean, it's amazing what we have over here and the west coast considers parts cars. I'm not sure of the origins of this car, but I'm in VA, and this is common rust over here. |
yep, looks "normal" to me... _________________

How is it that what you can see of the door panels look so good (read: fairly decent)? You'd think the lack of floor would have spread up the inside of the door at least.
Kudos on the resto. A little work and a lot of love...she'll be back on the road lookin' like new in no time. |

yea.. I don't know if it would sell.. but that thing would be in the craigslist here with a "needs tlc $1200".
However, after living in the southwest for a few years.. I can't get on board with saving such things myself. It has to be a labour of love or of idle hands. |
That'd be a $2k car on kijiji here if it ran... I sure as hell wouldn't pay it BUT it seems to be the way things are going out this way.
I've restored a couple in that shape. It seems pretty much impossible to find a solid bug out this way now. |

Alrighty, semester is over and I finally have some time to give this lemon some love. I have also started a new job so that takes up some time too, damm bills! Anyway, check it:
I just wanted to post this one up again, just to give you an idea of what it looked like before
During. I picked up a lower frame head at a local shop and used the ends under the nap hat. The rest is of it had no problems, so I didn't see any reason to tear the whole front end apart. I didn't see any reason to buying a whole nap. hat and having to modify the purchased one, so I fabed up the end.
So here it is with the bottom and hat finished.
The fire wall corner was toast, and again, I didn't see a reason to replace the whole firewall, or pay for it plus shipping.. yeah I'm a tight wad..
So I made this:
And this is what it looked like when done, or should I say I still need to clean up welds, so semi done:

Thanks! It's amazing how much foam is, or was in this car. It seems like it would have been eaiser to fix it the right way instead of fiber glassing, foaming, and bondoing. I know I'm far from a pro and do this in my free time, but after seeing the work done on this car I don't feel so bad The way I see it is I can only make it better, or at least not any worse. I'm determined to get this car done .... soon I would like to get it out of the backyard, and I'm sure my neigbors are too! |

Will do! I'm still pretty new and was wondering why I the wire was kind of bouncing off the metal, and the over heat would trip on the welder within a short amount of time at it. Thanks! |

Thanks! That's where this one was header, the owner was having a hard time with it. I told him it could be saved, he was pretty happy. I think he will be happy with the results so far. |

Thanks! This one isn't so bad now I think Josh will be happy with the results and the fact he didn't have to send this one to the crusher. |
