It's difficult to see from the small pictures but you have an extra support there for a Judson blower, centre picture.

Where do you intend to mount the filter...is it for a Judson or twin carb application? If it's for the Judson your oil lines look a little short, the ones you have look to be the ones for a fanshroud mounted filter.

Have a look at Andi Hendl's '57 build: http://www.oval56.com/inhalt_ov57.html
There is an excellent page by page illustrated build and amongst them detailed pictures of Andi's filter arrangement, both Judson and twin carb.

Great this helps me out . Looks ur using the twisted piece that I have with the small overhang tabs. Great. It must be a bitch to install this part with the engine in the car.. Shocked Ok I know there s a that plastic holddown that holds down the two copper pipes that run over the fanshroud. How does the banjo end work? more pics if u have them . Thanks for posting the pics . Im assuming these pics are for a judson setup. the lines look longer.

Can't do it with the engine in. I am waiting for a new setup from Steph, should be here any day, to support my Judson installation. I will take a sequence of photos as it comes together over the next week, including the Fram Filter installation, and post them.

Ok, got the new setup from Steph, so I will start to post photos of how this goes - assuming you are still interested.

First the coil must be bolted into place with the engine out of the car. I use loctite on all of the bolts and screws as there is vibration and I don't want to have anything come loose.

Next, I check the routing of the return line to the hollow stud at the distributor to make sure that it reaches and there is some flexibility. I am installing a Judson supercharger, so the routing and clearance is critical and is dependent on the mounting of the coil.

More over the next few days as I reinstall the engine, mount the Fram filter and route the flex lines.

Question on the stud on the generator stand . I have two pieces Im assuming there is the stud and then a smaller stud with a hole that goes in as well? If u look at the picture you can see the two black studs bottom center. Keep posting those pics . Thanks

I have one of these kits on order as well. Question - what does the thru bolt behind the pulley have to to with the filter install? Looks to be for the Judson support. Or am I missing something Sad

Yes you're quite right...the through bolts have nothing to do with the oil line installation.

The two bolts we're talking about are the black ones in the picture...the left one is the hollow bolt that doesn't just screw into the case but holds down the distributor clamp. The right black bolt is the banjo bolt that screws into the oil pressure switch aperture and in turn, the oil pressure switch screws into the end of this.

Anything tricky about replacing the distributor bolt with the hollow one? I'm about to install mine.

Lube the hollow bolt lightly and be gentle with it...that's all.

Here are some additional photos, progress today.
Description in order:

Mounting bolts for the Fram filter, penetrates firewall, tacked into place.
Fram filter mounted.
Fram filter with hoses connected, inlet on the top, outlet on the bottom.
Outlet point for oil flow out of case, where the pressure switch is normally mounted.
Inlet flow back into the case, hollow bolt at the distributor.
Parting shot of effort today, with supercharger and carb set into place to check hood clearance.

Note that I have not hooked up the oil return line to the case. There is currently no oil in the engine. My plan is to add oil to the engine and crank it without starting to get oil back up and into the engine passages and also to fill the Fram filter loop, cooling coil and associated lines. I will do this intermittently, and with the spark plugs out to lower resistance to cranking, until I get a discharge of oil into a temporary bottle. I will then hook up the oil return to the case at the distributor hollow bolt. This "filling of the loop" will be done before I secure the supercharge into place and "belt it up". With this setup, there is a "choke" at the inlet to the Fram filter and I suspect that it is there to maintain a backpressure on the oil flow, sending oil preferentially to the case and internals with a small slip stream to the Filter loop. More Monday - unless you tell me no mas.
