Yes it is your car but someone will have to deal with your choice as well.

Here you go Wink It very well could be Horizon Blue, but I think in Australia they used there own paint codes and color names. Maybe John (in2VWs) will chime in.

Chris, I hope you don't mind me posting pics of your car Cool

Of course I don't mind, Eddie! It is NOT Horizon blue, it is darker and grayer than Horizon blue, but I do not know what color it is. It really is a VERY nice color, in my opinion!

Sorry for not chiming in earlier, I just saw this thread now.
It is not easy to tell from pics, but I think it may be Summer Blue.

Here are scans from Aussie paint chips. Click the image to see it full size.

Thank you Sir! I love her too! Hard to beat nice original factory paint... That blue paint on yours aint too shabby either! I love your semaphores, my 'June '55 Sunroof missed the semaphore cut-off date for US spec cars by about two weeks, receiving instead the new snowflakes for USA bound Beetles.

Actually, the original owner (I'm the second owner since 1993) scratched the fenders against her lawnmower in her garage, so she had the local dealership (Thornton VW in Stockton, CA) re-paint three of them in the '60s, so about 85% of the painted surface is still factory original L370 laid down by Hans, Gunter and Brumhilda at Wolfsburg back in 1955! The entire original interior and red upholstery is still breath-taking. I was very lucky to discover and buy it at the 1993 VW Classic...

If you ever get to St. Louis, I'll give you the complete tour and a ride!

This doesnt really look anything like L370, looks more like L275 light beige. Im not saying youre wrong but why does it look so light instead of more brown. Im referencing the paint chips in the technical pages here on this sight and was curious.

My L370 Nile beige is more toward brown, exept when it is wery bright sun. The colour changes a bit then. L275 is also on my mind, in the picture above. But a really nice car!

I have a german book (Der Käfer, eine dokumentation 1, by Etzold), from 1983, that date the Nilbeige from 4. august 1955 (the day my car probably ran out of the assembly line), and not from march 1955 (like the colour chart on this forum).

My car is repainted with Glasurit L370 in 1992. Still got the OG colour under the bonnet. And a friend repainted his car in L370 a year before I did, and it looks as the same colour.
