Am a newbie and it seems my oval has the wrong wipers as well as several other items: Headlamps have a bulb in the lower part, wrong colored wolfsburg emblem on the front trunk (is it called a trunk even), horn button ,etc |

The top and bottom are correct. Notice the one piece design that does not separate the wiper from the arm. The arms themselves are very thin as well compared to the 58-64 arms. Bases have the corresponding thin slot hole.

They do look like the 58-64 versions. Remember if the blade separates from the arm it is 58-64. Both versions have removable bases but the width of the arm is thinner on the 57 and earlier.
FYI if it is not a show car just use the 58-64 because they will dry out and crack after a while as rubber does. If you do use the later ones stay away from the cheap repros and get the real SWF wipers as they are still out there.
Here is another thread with more pics.
54 and earlier had round arms
53 - 57 were 3mm wide arms
58 up were 5.5 mm (no pics of them)
The bases had matching slots for the arms |

There were pre 55 arms and 56-57 arms (from what I've found) the ones in the second classified ad looks correct as the lenght of the blade area is small. You just have to find out it if take the wide slot base or the small slot base...if you need pics I can go take some. |

1953-57 are the same. I've never heard or read that there are differences in 1953-55 versus 1956/57
Look at that ad closely. As state above, the wiper blades are attached to the arms via a small set screw, this feature is indicative of 1958-64 wiper blades & arms.
The blades that are in the plastic bags are both the same. On Pre '57 wipers, there are specific Left & Right arms. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

I also forgot to mention the 58-59 arms which were also side specific. Starting in 60 the arms were the same thru 64. All replacements were the "universal" which were two left arms. |

I have 2 arms laying here
they are 3mm but with removable long wiper blades
i have used the 3mm swf bases from those,
for my oval with repro arms.
I still dont know from what year of what car they are from
they have germany written on the blades with a small logo.
does anyone know here then where those came from?
Edit: here is a picture of them with the refurbished bases,
that came with them.

hard to tell with the angle of the pics but it looks like later bases and blades. I have had the early 53-57 bases and arms that someone cut off the blade and put the later 58-64 screw on type as a replacement. You could tell as the blade did not clear the water on the upper part of the windshield due to arms that were too short. |
