So I got one of those '69 Bay Window mirrors and was wondering if I could attach the more modern mirror from my Vanagon to the older bus shaft.

Any advice on that would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can. The "ball and socket" mounts just pop out with a little effort, and they are the same size.

Exactly what I did with mine. I also added a longer bolt for the brace with a rubber cap on it to snug up against the windshield. Can't remember the size, but it was easy to find at the Depot, it's a metric thread of course.
