Wouldn't a standard bug towbar work? You could always take it to a welder and have them lengthen it. Another thing you could do to is buy a superbeetle towbar and possibly mount it to the front bumper.

Actually the only thing you would have to do to lengthen it is to cut the bar after the bracket that attaches to the axle, and have a welder add 1-2 feet onto the bar at that point. Make sure that your tow hitch is as level as possible. Reason being you do not want the tow bar to be angled up or down, in case of a panic stop.

Hope this helps! Smile

It provides clearance when taking turns, and it might pull alittle bit better.

But that is up to you.

Standard bug tow bar works. Ask the Thing Shop.

A standard bug tow bar will work. Ask me,I have towed a Thing with a tow bar a dozen times. It works wonderfully!

I tow then behind a truck with a standard Beetle tow bar, but I have also seen some of the larger Rv's break these tow bars because they push the towbar sideways when making a hard turn. The bumper on a longer RV is much further from the rear wheels than a standard size pick-up and works good as a lever when turning hard. That is why I recommended the tow dolly for him.

But I will not be towing it that often and a bug towbar is only $52. A tow dolly cost way more than I want to spend......

Just do not ever back up with a bug towbar, not even 3 feet and you will kink the tubing.

Take the turns a little wider and smoother than you do when you are not towing, the time it takes for the steering to respond to the movement of the motorhome delays the onset and exit of the turn for the car.
