Just curious... the stereos in our cars are so prominently displayed.

Did you cut your dash to fit that stereo? Mine has been hacked but at least I'll be able to put a larger stereo in. |

I built my own camper interior and it lives on a shelf back there. I have a remote for when I drive but it's nice when camping for it to be in the back. _________________ Been on the samba so long I remember petting that dog to see VWs, WYHI, and green bug girl.

No it slid right in there. Had to send my Blaupunkt back to the service center to have it repaired and installed four new speakers now the Bus is a rockin'!
I thought of putting in an OEM unit which would look cool and all but too inconvenient to use the real stereo. I think this one looks good. Have a CD changer for it but too lazy to install the thing.

Ya so do I. I did that guage setup on my 71 sportmobile back in 1979 and I may do it to my 71 westy I have now but Iam have a hard time cutting the holes in my dash this time. what I want is that fan switch. _________________ where its cold and snowy |

Thanks, the plate is from Bus Boys, gauges are 914, also have the VDO tach installed in the clock hole.
That Fan switch is actually for the fan over the engine (PO hacked the wiring so had to bypass the switch built into the lheat levers). the one that everyone wants in next to the headlights which is for the ambulance fans

I've got this to go in my 69. The moulded 'grain' seems to be the same as the bus,it has a recess centre section & has VOLKSWAGEN faintly printed on it but I don't actually know if it actually is a bus stereo or t3 or bug etc ??? looks good I think!

Just finished my install. I found a Kenwood double knob that looks 'almost' period. But it's HD radio with iPod and Aux inputs in the glove box. I used the POs door locations for speakers up front and added box speakers mounted to the ceiling in back so I didn't molest the Westy laminate.

Do you think it's better to put the speakers in the front doors or the front kick pads? _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

I would leave the stock radio in its spot and put your fancier one out of plain sight.
I know I already replied to this, delete it again if you wish. _________________ BUS FOR SALE

Couldn't bring myself to chop holes in the dash for the gauges so the CD player had to take a hike, good job it's remote control!
