So my '64 Bug is just about road-worthy, and now it's time to find some bumpers. I know that I definitely want the kind with over riders, no blades or Euro style for me. I would love to find some good used German ones, but I'm guessing that's going to be tough. So where did you get your bumpers? I'm trying to weight out quality versus price. I know that the cheap ones kinda suck, but at the same time, I really can't afford to spend $800 on a set of bumpers. So let's hear some opinions/experiences.

One recommendation.. By the Wolfsburg West bumpers if you can't find decent originals. The Harrington Stainless pieces are garbage..(first hand experience in that department...) Smile

Just have persistence & patience. Originals come up all the time (atleast here in California) at VW swapmeets & shows.

Your local CraigsList site might procure a set as well

Yup, Craigslist is where I found mine. Came with a set of fenders, decklid, and hood. Original German bumpers, can't beat 'em. Keep your eyes open, some are bound to pop up.

the thing to do is when you start your project you start looking for bumper parts on thesamba. I found that buying the towel bars and overriders to be be relatively easy to come by and if you take your time the main blade will eventually turn up as well. It's cheaper than buying a completely assembled one from someone.Rechroming is always an option too ,expensive but an option
