I ve had no luck uploading photos directly from my Droid phone.
It says "uploads disabled" in the Gallery where you upload pics.
Is it my phone or is it this forum not allowing you to upload photos from phones. _________________ 90 westy 2wd w/ TBD |

you should ask this in the "Site" forum, the site admins might monitor that and be able to give you an answer. _________________ Tencentlife said,

I cant do it from my iPhone either..
if you find out a way that thesamba would accept a photo by email, that would work from my phone, and yours.. but I dont know, yet, if thesamba has an email photo bucket.. |

The problem both phone systems have is they essentially do not have a file system. At least one that is conventionally recognized. Apparently it is something the the iPhone 4.0 system will give a vestige of (?), not sure about the Android operating system. If your an iPhone or even other user, you can do a work around with MobileMe by uploading it to your mobileMe gallery from the phone and then downloading it to the photo gallery section, or directly to your post.
Wished Gizmodo had a few more hours of the phone being alive before Apple disabled the one that fell out of the guy's iPants in the bar. Then we would have had a comprehensive look at the operating system. _________________ Geology with a Syncro rocks!

thanks for the brainstorming dogpilot
I dont pay for mobileme, but I have a free picasaweb.com account, which accepts photos from my iPhone by email
now to figure out how to embed a photo, not just link to it
I went to picasaweb.com into my account and found the photo, then copied the link and pasted it in to this post..
test link:
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_TDXvyTsW1ZU/SCRTdLBR4ZI/AAAAAAAAA1k/pGvyFCzQoTo/s576/IMG_0198.JPG
test embed
it works! but I cheated, I uploaded to picasa from my phone, but got the photo from picasa using my laptop's "copy image location" command.. now to find the command online, since my iPhone wont right click a pic.. so far no luck, my iPhone goes into mobile mode when viewing google, wont let me see the jpg file name.. oh well..
how I did it
I typed in ''
there is also an img button in the compose message window here on thesamba that will type the img codes for you |

I have a photobucket app for my Iphone that will allow me to download photos directly to that. Its free too.
And then if you view the picture there is an "i" at the bottom right corner of the page and you can get the IMG code and copy and paste to the samba forum. _________________ 89 Bostig powered syncro westy |

not threadjacking but I have found I can't upload pics to Samba over Wefi Wifi using my laptop. Yet when I use my main computer which has a dedicated line to the internet, I have no problems. I also just send my phone photos to my email and then download them to pics file.
Has anyone ever experienced having problems uploading over wireless? _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

I upload photos all the time through my android phone (nexus 1) I use the photobucket app. Upload to there from the phone and then in the app click the view links. Copy and paste. All done. _________________ 1986 Vanagon Syncro GL, westy interior, GW 2.4 and all locked up

Now posting photos from my phone is ALOT faster than trying to upload photos to gallery then post pictures. Thanks for the tips. _________________ 90 westy 2wd w/ TBD |

Test.
This (hopefully) is a picture of my new superbright LEDs. I used Dropbox in conjunction with my iPhone. If you've never used Dropbox and you want to save important files using a cloud storage system then check it out. I believe there is an Android app as well. Of course, it links to your mac or pc as well. You will never have to use a flashdrive or have to email yourself a file again.

|
|
Somehow I've been on The Samba for nearly a decade and not felt the need to put up as photo, but I'd like to do it now if anyone knows the details of the process. I've been hacking around for over an hour, after starting at 2 Forum headings. One is "Posting pics from an iPhone / iPad", the other "How to Post Pictures in the forum". These made it seem that I need to post to the Samba "gallery" before I put them into a comment on a thread. But at the gallery, still no details-- nowhere have I found a step-by-step of the whole process. I'm only a little past my prime and have had a computer for 25 + years, but I'm humbled by this effort. Shouldn't it be in one of the categories that shows up on the intro screen of The Samba, or the subheading of "Gallery" or "Forum"? If you know of a place where such a description exists anywhere on the Samba site, please pass it along. |

I have only uploaded photos from my computer. It seems pretty straight forward. It is recommended to upload the photos to the Samba because it helps maintain the links into the future. This might be of some help. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/faq.php?mode=gallery
You can also link to photos using these tags. [img][/img] around the url to the photo. Hope that helps. _________________ ☮️ |

I think this thread is a perfect example of that. Were everyone only so considerate as to freely sharing, instead of controlling their attached images and removing them when it suits their fancy ... Dogpilot was a perfect example of that. A wealth of knowledge while he was here, but then took his ball and went home ... |
