Dan being true to his word came over this morning to Help Jim and I tackle the bulkhead project.
Jim decided to get rid of the rusty top hat and we removed a section of the floor to get it out
Dan pulling the cross member and heater tube out
Jim welding up a small patch panel
Funky green temped in place
Bulkhead temped in with rivets and we sized up the patch section that was needed along the bottom for a factory style installation
Buzz the bus inspector checking the fit and finish
For the first time in decades, the front seat hangs in the correct spot
We have a lot more detail work before the bulkhead panel is welded in place, but we are happy with the fit and progress that was made in two days. |

It is really great to see friends come together on a project like this. I too will be following this thread for updates. I like to see how you are paying attention to the details and not just hacking and welding. Keep up the great work guys on a very worthy bus. _________________ 58 Coral Red ragtop(Diana's car)

Keep up the good work Jim. You have a great team working with you. This is definitely a worthy candidate. Very few pressed bumper Westfalia campers left out there. Get the metal work done correctly, and then you can worry about the correct interior stuff. The metal will take a while, and in the meantime you can eductae yourself about the interior. campingbox and lind will be great sources for info about the interior. _________________ Looking for these items for my June '53 kombi:

Looks good so far..... your bus only needs about 2/3 the metal work my '57 required. Hang in there. _________________ '57 sunroof Standard

More work is getting done, this is more involved than I anticipated...but still very exciting!
Here is the bulkhead with added strip, grinding the welds.
Thank you for the encouragement!

Wow, that's a lot of work. All I can say is that it's looking stellar. You guy's show dedication that usually isn't present in many of the people on here.
Keep it up. |

Nice progress. Is your plan to get it road worthy and log some miles on it? Maybe make it a driving project? _________________ 58 Coral Red ragtop(Diana's car)
