Wait... I knew the rear axles were the same side to side, but the front axles are interchangeable with the rear? Really? Or am I misunderstanding you?

the rear drive shafts on a 14inch syncro are the same as 2wd ones, however the front are 14inch syncro only, all the cv joints are the same as 2wd ones with the execption to the front outer, again 14inch only. the shafts can be installed on eather side of the van, dont forget that the bolts on the front inner (to the diff) are longer about 4mm that all the rest, and there should be a metle spacer (which is normaly missing) between this cv joint and the diff about 3mm from memory.

i have a copleate spaire in the van and i could take a photo if it showing the spacer if it would help.

No,
The front and rear are NOT the same lenght.
There is a spacer on the differential side of each in front.
The fronts do not have the same splines and attachment at the front outer vs. the front inner CV joints.

Yes, 2wd manual and Syncro rears are interchangable.
