|
|
Hi,
I have bought a non-walktrough drivers and co-pilot seat (1963) with green leather.
I would like to have it look like original seats for a 1967 Westfalia. Like this:
There is a store in my town that does renew leather seats.
I would like to know if there are unique names for the seat materials / colours to be able to specify my request. _________________ Frank

Grey Salt and Pepper is what it's called. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

I do forget though about the 64-67 seams and no seams cut-off dates. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Wolfsburg West sells the TMI covers for these in the correct pattern and also the seat pads. I think they will also sell you the material if you want to have your upholsterer make them for you.
Here is a set of walk throughs that I did with WW TMI covers a few weeks ago.

The spec's says
Quote: |
SEAT COVERS, 1/3 2/3 style front seat models, 1965-1967 standard Micro Bus models, mesh grey and dark grey, these use the original style steel ring fasteners, piping and pleating as original. |
Since my seat's (see pic in first post) come from a 1963 bus so I fear thar these do not fit. (I'm not sure about this, advise is welcome) _________________ Frank

I am a bit confused. You said you wanted them with the pattern of the 67. As to the pattern, that salt & pepper is only correct for 65-67. That's why the specs from WW say 65-67. As far as I know the front seat frames for a 63 through 67 are all the same. So, yes, they would fit but not have the correct material pattern. I think the correct material for your bus is solid grey with white piping. |

To chime in - As far as I know, 63-67 are the same exact seat shape. |
Does that also apply to the mounting part?
My current seats (from 1969) are welded in my 1967 splitbus so it's not easy for me to quickly test / check... _________________ Frank

Yes 1963-67 drivers seat hardware is all the same. Passanger seat only changes for bench or walkthrough. _________________ Home of the one true split Bus Motorhome |

Yes.
The salt & pepper aka mesh grey upholstery was original used only 65-67, so it is listed as 65-67. But it will fit 63-67 front seat frames.
Likewise, the green seat covers for a turkis 1/2 2/3 seat bus would be used 63-64, but fit 63-67 front seat frames.
It's just a change in upholstery.
The off the shelf seat covers have heat seams in them, which is correct for a microbus or deluxe microbus.
For a 65-67 SO-42 Westfalia, combi, panel, or truck it should NOT have heat seams.
Here are before and after pictures of my kombi. It currectly has a heat seamed drivers seat and a non-heat seamed passenger seat, in the mesh grey/s&p TMI seat covers. I special ordered the non-heat seamed cover.
