I'm pretty sure my windshield washers are reversed, but how to correct? When I PULL the washer stalk on the steering column, the rear washer works. When I PUSH it, the front washer works, but it takes 5 seconds or so for the pump in back to pump washer fluid through. Meanwhile the wipers are smearing dirt all over the windshield before fluid gets there, further impeding visibility. It even appears by the pictures on the actual stalk that things are backwards. Am I missing something? How can I reverse these? Thanks for the help!

Sounds to me as if the wiring connections are backwards.

good thought. i dont think the front pumps to the rear. that could be the answer to why its set up like that. But I'd still like to fix it. Where is the pump to replace in front? Is it a PITA to fix?

When sitting in the drivers seat the pump and tank are under your left foot you can see the tank from underneath another posibility is an inability to find that tank so a jury rig may have been their answer Shocked

does the Vanagon have an anti-drain back valve like some German cars do?

if so, that might be part of your issue

If Vanagons do have it, where would I look for the anti-drain valve, and what would be the issue exactly? Thanks!
