If you can wait, get the rims that VanCafe is bringing in an a month. They are more than strong enough and are a straight bolt on deal- correct offset and good width. Audi rims usually need to have the centers machined bigger and some kind of spacers depending on 2wd or syncro. Good luck

I agree, the new wheels offered by VC will be a great addition to the parts list. However, if you still need help sussing out any of the information here, just let me know. Also, if you look on the first page of this thread, there is a link to the Ultimate Wheel Post - Part Two where much of the information from this thread is condensed into a more concise list.

Test fit these today but haven't driven on them yet. They are audi 15" steels with 225/75/15 tires. The center bore was slightly too small but fit with a little cutting. I may need longer studs in the rear at least...

I just finished this Bus for a friend of mine. It has "modified" H&Rs and Konis. Wheels are '08-'09 Porsche Cayenne, 18x8 ET57. Tires are 225/45R18 (front) and 235/45R18 (rear). Adapters are 28mm thick (front) and 46mm thick (rear). Sliding door hinge will have to be extended.

quick question about rear wheel ftting:

are the stock studs in the back long enough to attach 20mm adapters to, or do they require longer studs..?

Yes, the adapters that we do will bolt to the stock rear studs, no problem. Thickness of the adapters has no bearing on the fitment to the rear studs.

Has anyone thought about or actually gone thru with putting Subaru alloy wheels on their Vanagon? I am thinking about ripping them off of my donor vehicle and seeing what happens. Any thoughts would be helpful.

-offset 45
-bolt pattern 5x112

-spacers 12mm (1/2'')

-tires Nokian 205/65/15

I finally got around to taking pictures of my new wheels. I got these several months ago from another Samba member, so all the machine work was already done. Previous owner had drilled out the lug holes with a 37/64 bit. Thank you to Loogy for all information, advice, spacers and bolts!

- Wheels from a 2000 CLK 430 AMG
- Front 17x7.5, ET: 37, Tires: 225/45ZR17
- Rear 17x8, ET: 30, Tires: 245/45ZR17
- No spacers front of rear (had spacers but found that I had plenty of clearance without them... no rubbing issues so far)
- 50mm bolts up front
- 52mm SwayAway studs in the rear
- 70mm AVO springs w/ AVO adjustable shocks

Thanks for the pics and writeup.
I too have been using those wheels for a few years on Carat edition vans.
They are very easy to mount vs some of the other options out there.

Nice looking van for sure.

Thanks for the compliment! I oringinally was looking for 18's but I couldn't pass up the offer on these wheels. Now I just need to lower it a little more, about another inch lower... I'll post pictures when I get that done.

Thanks to Loogy for setting me up with the right spacers, lug bolts and studs. Picked these rims up off CL for $200, another $300 to Loogy, $100 for machining the bore and $800 at the tire shop. Man it adds up but its only money right?

Specs:
Audi A4 16" 7 spoke rims with machined bore
Nokian 215/60/16 99H XL Tires
15mm spacers
Extended lug bolts and studs

These are (repainted) VW Passat Speedline 16x7" ET 45 mm. I use 10 mm spacers so effective ET is now 35. The clearance is about half an inch.

Snevakela, Those wheels are going to look great on there.

I'm sure that you are aware of this, but for those who are not, having the wheel clear the upright is only 1/4 of the battle. It's having enough clearance between the tire and the upper control arm that usually causes the headaches.
