Can anybody tell what a good guage wire would work for the engine sect,
including the oilsend. unit everything I need seems to be the real thin wire.
the generator wires are great its just the other 2 or three wires goin to the carb and coil. |

Better to go a little big than too small... _________________ 82 Westy ☢, 66 Splitty ☮, 73 Type 181 ✠ |

If you have a parts bus you could cut up the wiring harness, usually the stuff in the middle of the long PVC tube is in great shape and is ideal for making repairs. I like to solder, shrinkwrap, and then cover the repairs with fresh pieces of PVC tubing. It takes a little bit more time but the repairs are pretty much invisible. |

Greg said it best. Find a bay in a junkyard (where you'll find most bays anyway)- and liberate its harness. My engine bay now looks exactly as it should- and I have spare 'coils' of color coded wire for every future need. _________________

Zombie thread warning =)
Hello Everybody. Im about to rewire the Double Cab.
Printed and studied the wiring diagram, conversion chart and I bought/ repaired most of the switchs and electrical related stuff.
The question is: The AWG 20 wire for the tail light circuit seems to be too thin
Is it a deliberate way to underpower the tail light circuit to make noticeable the brake light brightness? ( circuit with AWG 16 wire)
Im using the wiring diagram vw transporter from aug 1966.
Thanks in advance. |

If it was too small the wire would run hot. No problem with that for us.
