|
|
I've got a set of wolfsburgwest hubcpas in lightgrey and
a can of the dovegrey paint they sell to make the caps correct for my
dove blue bus.
What should I use to prep the caps for paint?
What grit paper? Do I need primer or can I paint over the powder coat?
Thanks! _________________ www.volksfahrer.nl

MOst paint processes I can think of, excluding than magnetic and chemical, like polycarb paint, will need some sort of roughing up. I believe the data sheets on most of my paints said 320. Probably be good enough and not visible through the paint. 400 would definitely be invisible. Though I've not painted powder coat before. Its hard and slick. So, I would highly suggest roughing it up and hitting it with a good primer if not a specific adhesion promoter like bulldog. DOn't know if its as slick as chrome.. but better safe than sorry. Lots of cars running around with flakey wheels and hubcaps.
You are talking about canned spray paint right? _________________ 77 super convertible |

Thanks for the quick response!
Yes it's a rattlecan.
It's definifly not as slcik as chrome and not as hard so
it can be roughed up with no problem.
I'll get some 400 grit.
If it fails I'll have then powdercoated. _________________ www.volksfahrer.nl
