|
|
Ok Im removing the cabinets and all that lovely stuff to check for rust.
I cannot for the life of me get the two nuts that hold the lines to the propane tank loose... I used PB Blaster... nothing. Everytime I try to loosen them the copper tubing is bending something bad.
PLEASE, THOUGHTS?? _________________ 85 Westfalia

If all you're doing is removing the cabinets you do not need to remove the lines at the tank. Once the fittings are loosened inside the sink cabinet get a helper to help you lift the sink cabinet up over the lines to get it out. Before you reinstall the sink cabinet cut a slot in the floor of it from the hole for the gas lines back to the back (wall) edge so you can slide the cabinet in and out next time. As for getting the gas lines loose at the tank, I have not yet tried that so can offer no advice. Good luck!
Rereading your post it seems you might be speaking of getting the line apart inside the cabinet so that you can remove it. It's a standard double-nut fitting and if it won't come apart that is a different matter. May have to be cut, reflared and refitted. Sorry. |

Yes, it IS necessary to remove the flue vent to remove the fridge cabinet.
Besides the 3 visible scxrews that holds the outer cover on, inside that are 2 or 3 more screws that hold the flange to the body, PLUS 2 more screws that hold the outer part to the inner flue tube fastened to the fridge.
As long you get the two screws that hold the outer to inner parts out, you may not have to remvove the part with the rubber seal to the body. _________________ '88 VW Westfalia

I sometimes have luck with the flare fittings by tightening them first then loosening them. It seems to break the corrosion between the nut and pipe flare.? _________________ Len

If the pipes have been bent while you were trying to loosen them, replace them, the last thing you want is a leak. _________________ 1987 Doka 1.9TD from Germany gasser DU tranny, fuel turned up, 1.6 LDA pin, boost at 15 psi,egt and boost gauges, stock diesel tach, air filter behind passenger tail light, IC to come

I will run a test to make sure the piping is not leaking. Thanks for the heads up though, I appreciate it _________________ 85 Westfalia
