Has anyone attempted to repair a set of the fresh air boxes under the windshield cowl (from a '69)? Mine are in decent shape with the exception of the top "tray" which kept leaves out and water from splashing inside. The trays pretty much crumbled, so I removed them. I just need to figure out a way to re-create them. My first thought was to create a deflector out of plexiglass over the opening into the cabin to help control water from entering. Then the entire tray would be covered with screen to keep out leaves. My engineering skills aren't the greatest at this sort of stuff, so I haven't had much success. I was curious if there was an easier way.

I would buy decent used replacement parts. Maybe paint them on the inside with POR 15 for extra protection and then bolt them in.

Screen wire, some epoxy, to put it in, and some patience.
That will keep the leaves out.

I use bulk refrig magnet material to cover the vents on my 69. I am not ready to tear the dash apart yet.
Have not had one fly off yet.

I had picked up some magnet material that you use for air vents in your house, but they don't stick too well to the car. I guess the magnet material isn't strong enough. I want to get the car back together just so that I can drive it again, and I'll worry about doing an actual restoration in the future when my kids are older. Plus I'm wasting a whole bunch of space just holding the parts from the car! I just wanted to see if anyone else has attempted to repair these parts for some ideas before putting them back in. These are one item that I would like to install and not have to worry about later. If I come up with a solution, I'll post it.
