Hi, I have a 71' that I am preping for paint.I was wondering if busses came with glass without the vent window, or is the right rear glass the only one like that? I have seen some pics of busses with one piece glass, but I don't know if that is custom or not? Thanks |

I have a 71 bus that I'm getting ready to paint as well. I planed to put the same one piece window on the rt. and lt. and in the middle windows I want to put the late modle sliding windows. If anyone knows weather this will work or not with the existing cutouts let me know.Tony |

Tony that combo will work... On the very rear glass, it is possible to remove the wing vent and glass from either side it was intalled it( varied from model to model)and replace it with a solid glass from another wreck.... you MUST get a correct rubber for that side is all....
Late model sliders or camper jalousie crank windows will fit in any 68-later sliding door and side... |

Ive seen some buses with the solid side windows, not many, they were not custom. Solid side windows were more common on Euro buses. |

The right rear [on LHD, right side slider] window is solid because the sliding door would nail an open vent window.
Yes, you can install another solid window on the left by using a right side one.
Yes, they did offer solid middle windows. No vents on either side. Very tough to find. I have a pair of these pieces of glass.
Yes, you can install sliding windows in any 68 to 77 bus. They came standard on 78/79 buses. You can also install Westy jalousie windows in any 68-79 bus. But any and all windows you want to swap into your bus has to be from a 68-79 bay bus. Vanagon windows will NOT fit. |

Hey Mean Irish,
I had the same dilemma. I bought a '78 junker for $200 stripped of side sliding widows, one piece rear window. Ordered the correct rubber and now I'm ready to have installed once I prep it.
