I have a new lid seal, not installed yet, that somehow has some grey primer on it. Is there something that will remove that paint, without destroying the seal?

Laquer thinner will remove the paint. Use sparingly... it's a new seal so it's not going to dry out. You can also try other solvents, just use common sense when applying it.

Thanks Max, I'll give it a try. I was really pissed when I saw it.

Spray it and your other seals with silicone afterwards for better looks and protection.

WD 40 will take it off with a terry cloth as long as it's not too thick Wink

Thanks all. I used laquer thinner and a green scrubby, came right off with little effort. Immediately followed by a good washing in hot soapy water.

I think I had it sitting in the trunk area while spraying primer on my car. Don't remember why, it was a couple of years ago.
