Well, just thought I'd get the camera out and post some current pics of thr Dorm, all road worthy and bolted together. Some new upholstery and ready to camp.
So far:
removed interior, cleaned, por-15'd rusty stuff (hardly any).
Dynamat on the thin panels.
New front interior stuff.
New brakes all around (need booster)
2.0L engine installed and rockin solid.
BN4 Gas heater burning hot
16" Audi Wheels
Drop spindles
New Door seals all around
Shortened westy rack and mudflaps
Rebuilt the pull out bed to the more friendly westy hinges- NOT easy.
New Curtains and skylight seals
To come: FULL POLISH, powdercoated bumpers with euro overridders, vintage K-mart foglights.
Of course its a work in progress and still kind of rough around the edges, but it's coming along.

Taking a wild guess here but it makes sense. The name Dormoblie is composed of the terms "dorm", for sleeping quaters and "mobile", well, I think you get it. It has nothing whatsoever to do with "doors"! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

No problemo!
Just that I see plenty people using that term a lot. Again, it's wild guess but I'm positive "doors" did not play any part in it!
And yes, that fatchick Dormy does have a really kool set up! _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

"The bottom 6" has been eaten by the tin worm"
LOL
Unfortunately, while that looks like less trouble than some other items, that is a MAJOR challenge.
Even worse in England where your not-so-friendly MOT inspector is not going to let it get anywhere near the road until fixed.
It is not impossible,(others have done it) but frankly I would go for one that needs a new engine/interior before I tackled a rust bucket. Easier to fix and much cheaper.

WOW. That takes me back a little bit.
Yeah, (914) 2.0L Type4 with a Raby DTM kit. Lots of fun, the gearing is HORRIBLE when left stock on a bus with that setup.
That engine eventually ended up in my 68' 912. _________________

I see this is back from the dead..that REALLY was a cool bus to find, especially way out in the middle of north central washington- literally in the weeds. I enjoyed it alot, but had to sell it as I was commuting a few hundred miles a week to school through the desert and the trans just wasn't geared right with that T4 engine.
In retrospect I could have put a later trans in it..oh well.
I'm somewhat ashamed that I 'tweeked' the MW interior to be more friendly. It was an honest pain in the ASS to do ANYTHING in that bus. The damn interior was so just...odd. *maybe* it would have been better for extended traveling, but as it was it had very little useful storage- can I get a damned closet?- NONE of the camping features were usable when the bed was folded out- the table and all storage was blocked.
But you could sleep in the cots above?
It was awesomely complete too, right down to the stove. I think it's on the east coast somewhere now. ... . _________________
