I will be having my engine removed for some repairs and I am wondering if there is anything I should replace, any maintenance I should preform etc while the engine is out? I remember seeing a post about this, but I cant seem to find it. _________________ 1987 Vanagon GL |

Let see while my engine was out I redid all fuel lines, engine gasket, cleaned and painted air cooled tins redid all my wiring since it was old and cracking including fuel injector connectors, and sent off injectors to get cleaned, new clutch assembly too and new accelerator cable. And cleaned engine bay. _________________ 82 Westy 'Betsy'

With the car up on ramps and the engine out you can sit inside the engine bay with great access to the clutch slave cylinder, CVs, and the transmission input shaft seal. With the inner CVs off the transmission, the output seals are fair game. The coolant H pipe is easier to get to for replacement or just an inspection. Also a good time to clean grounds and start motor connections. |
