My headlight buckets are RUSTY, but the overall fenders are in decent shape. Are there replacement buckets, or is it worth chopping and swapping some metal, or should I just find a new set of fenders? |

I had a set of fenders in similar shape. The undercoating on the backsides had trapped water and ate the buckets up. I found a good bucket in an old fender and cut it up to replace the rusty sections on mine. Turned out ok. I don't see why you couldn't get the buckets from a set of bug fenders and modify them to work. Just my $.02.

Not sure about a beetle but the Thing bucket can be removed. You will need to get all the white factory undercoat off because the buckets will go out the front of the fender. From the inside the bucket you will fine about 8 spot welds to drill out. then the bucket will push from the back side. |

I believe that would be 311 821 122/121.
Which to me means that a Type 3 (Fastback) bucket would work. Good luck finding that one. |

I believe that's the inner adjustable headlight assembly and not the actual bucket itself. I beleive the OP was referring to the part that's spot welded to the fender. |
