I'm just about to change the power steering oil and I'm confused as to what is Dexron??? is it a manufacture or a formular. What type to buy as all the oils, Napa, Pensoil, Mobil, Castrol etc state that theirs meets and exceeds Dexron 2and 3. I was even told that Dexron is a GM product.
Thanks
Mike

Dexron is a GM product specification, mostly for ATF. The most current product is Dexron VI, which is fully backward compatible to earlier ATF specs. In addition to automatic transmissions, ATF is commonly found in power steering systems and 4WD transfer cases.

Castrol Import Multi-Vehicle has been working well for 4+ years in my '85 Westy. I think it is about $6.00 a quart at Autozone.
