I assume you mean the full length of the bus ones. Westfalia did make straight up pop ups, they are just not the full length of the bus; and the baywindow versions were generally not sold here in the US.

To add to that, both posters you are looking at are in Canada. The Westfalia (with rear hinged roof from 1974-79) is definitely the most common conversion here in (western) Canada, followed by Riviera conversions with the straight up and down top. The Riviera's have a slightly higher profile to the top. There are definitely far fewer of these around, but they are not uncommon.
Pop top conversions by any other companies are pretty uncommon here in western Canada, though we do get a few Sportsmobiles with the straight up top, and a few different permanent high tops, including Get-Away conversions which were done here in BC.. though not sure if they were around before the days of the Vanagon. |

BTW, my Bus came out of the US, originally sold in Detroit. There were a few differences between Canadian/Us sold buses, like the city power hookup on Canadian buses came with it's own length of cord directly attached to the bus, and they all came with the gas heaters as standard options. We also didn't get so much emissions add-ons like catalysers and EGR systems until much later. And our spedometers were primarly in Km.
Not many Canadian issue buses left on the roads, due to salt use on our roads. _________________ You can have it quickly, you can have it good, you can have it cheap...Pick two...

Exactly what I meant Matt, I should have been more specific. _________________ First Trip in the RustyBus:

Mine appears to be Canadian, still trying to decode the M-codes as they seem to be very unique (maybe cause it's Canadian?) I do have the extension cord in mine, but the gas heater is gone.. PO told me it had one, but apparently she didn't open the engine lid much! |

Do you have to pass emissions in BC ? We don't have to in Quebec (so far), but I've swapped out the instrument cluster for a canadian one, WITHOUT the EGR and CAT idiot lights...Just in case... _________________ You can have it quickly, you can have it good, you can have it cheap...Pick two...
