Whats the deal with those big flow mufflers? I am putting together a 1600 DP motor with a stock 34 pict 3 carb and putting it in a 71 westy. I would rather but a stock muffler on it, but would it be better to put one of those other monsters on it and what would the bennifits be. Thanks

The fat boy would over-scavenge that 1600, in other words you need to keep a little of that back pressure for that small motor. A decent header, like an S&S header with a single quiet pack would do just fine. That way you keep the heat risers and stock heater boxes.

I have a single BugPack QP with a BugPack header and it seems to work well. Has a good sound, not loud or with that raspberry tune, either.

There are 'stock' looking mufflers out of stainless, however. Don't know what kind of power they produce.

Okay, so my question is, what is the advantage of the header with a single quiet pack muffler over the basic stock muffler.
Thanks

Many discussions on ceramic coating. Search the threads and you will find tons of options.
