They did not come form Blind Chicken they came form Doug Fuller of Layton Utah. He does great work. This will be the only lift i do to the car in the front. I will be turning the rear bars up a couple notches...

Thing spidles cut with a bandsaw, plated and rewelded. These things are sweet.....and they fit with stock rims or others.

Your chassis will be off to the painter soon just waiting for him to get a opening in his shop. I post up a few pics for you shortly.

Looking at possibly going with raised spindles.

I would assume the speedo cable will need to be longer.

is there one out there that can be used in place of original?

Looks great. I am in So Cal and have a 73 Orange Thing that I restored last year. Mine is stock and we have 3 other VW's but the Thing is our favorite. Friends of mine in our VW club bought their Thing from Bunky. Nice car. Good luck. PS- I also used the Thing shop for most of my car. Larry is great and I was happy with every part I got.

Not to be a stick in the mud but will the lifted spindles have any effect on suspension travel?

Your club member is lucky to get a car from Bunky. He is one of the Thing legend dudes. His stuff always rocks.... In the veteran Thing community, we have a large group of very knowledgeable and skilled folks. I very much respect Bunky' efforts.

Feelin' it, too, Jon!!! We sand blasted/powder coated our chassis. Not cheap but I think it will be worth it, especially in South Florida. We had to buy a (better) body, so a few months ago we brought the bare chassis up to have them drill the holes for the body into the new pans. Matched up perfectly, thank you 8lbs 6oz Baby Jesus!! Then they undercoated both the body and chassis together. Finishing up the suspension/steering on chassis this week, then trailering it back up to St. Pete next week. Classic Camber in St. Pete is about done on my body. Once they remount the body, we will be bringing it home to start "putting Humpty Dumpty back together again." So for now livin' off Ramen Noodles like we're back in college Laughing BTW, page 71 of the Sept issue of HotVW, bottom of the page. That's her but in May.

Pan is done thanks to Kris and in my garage. Parts are around somewhere in the garage and most of the seals and bearings. I need to lay everything out and figure out what i am missing. Maybe i can buy a bunch of pizza and have everyone over for a build up night. Ok, thats it. Everyone drop what you are doing and drive to SLC, Utah to put this thing together. LOL SUmmer is tough. So many other things to do.
