|
|
I have a 1973 super beetle motor that I wanted to put on a 1962 era transmission.I know the actual case size is the same but I was wondering about matching up the current clutch and pressure plate on the motor with the throw out bearing in the trans.
The throw out bearing in the 62 doesn't have the collar to slide over and really doesn't have any bolt holes in the casing to even take one.The clutch on the 73 has the fingers without the center ring and was on a 73 trans that had the collar. Will this work? Ideas?? |

You have to have all early model components for early trans... Pressure plate has to have ring on it to work.... There is no mix and match.....Its all one style (early) ... Throwout bearing style determines this....

Thanks Dale......are the flywheels the same?Tried fitting the later model 73 motor with the flywheel to the early 62 trans and the flywheel seems to hit.Are the early flywheels a bit smaller? |

Yes, a 6V flywheel is smaller in diameter. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey
