Thought every one would appreciate some pics from a recent event we had in NYC on Governor's Island. No the Governor does not live there but an old one designed some of the buildings on the island. The Coast Guard pulled out of their base there some years ago and the island is going through a transition. A good deal of history on the island and an amazing point at which to view NY harbor, the statue of liberty and NY in general. Too bad the weather did not fully cooperate with us but the event was amazing and we'll be going back next year!
Enjoy some of the moments.....
The island is off the southern tip of Manhattan about a thousand yards. You can walk or rent a bike and its about a mile and a half all the way around the promenade that circles the island.
Below we're lining up for the ferry ride back to Battery Park.
The Staten Island Ferry with a view of Newark NJ.
