What is the original colour for a hood latch under the hood?

I see some pics in black and others in what appears to be zinc. What would the original colour be for that female receptacle (not the other one you are thinking about) under the hood that takes the pin from the hood. The one connected to the body in front of the spare tire.

I have one for my 57 project that is very nearly NOS and its definately black, original coating and unmolested by the PO

Another latch question. One of the pics above show a line in the latch running parallel to the body, another pic shows two lines (one on each side of the circular receiver) running perpendicular. Which is correct for ovals?

This one is from an original 57 Oval with 28,000 miles on it.
