The engine is an NOS Industrial for a marine application and the cap at the fuel pump is just a blanking plate. My friend thinks the carb for this application would be gravity fed so no need for the stock fuel pump.
Brasil used to be a very good hunting ground for Buses in good shape...well good shape and appalling shape...for little money.
...that was then.
Only a few years ago the Type 2 scene in Brasil was very small...they weren't cool and you could find bargains everywhere. Now everyone wants UK prices for their buses.

Are you sure it's a '51?
Hard to tell in the pics but it seems to have 2 rear reflector pressings. A post march 52 change. There definantly looks to be a pressing on the right side, the side that would be expected to be blank.
Obviously this could be a latter repair but the bus looks so un-messed with.
