Okay, all the final pieces are starting to come together on the "90 day wonder" my original Thing engine should arrive here on wednesday, i just picked up a gas heater and some small odds and ends on sunday, and i have a long weekend coming up, so i can reattach the body to the freshly painted pan, and finish the body work. I figure two more weeks, and it is done!!! By the way, i have a rear bumper, some doors, rough but usable fenders, and two original wheels for sale, if anyone is interested. |

Hey Brian; why dont you post some pics of it in the gallery? I'd like to see it. I'm just about ready to assemble a 1776 for mine.Just finished weighing the rods and pistons on the old triple beam, and have got them all the same weight. Hope everything goes together well for you. |

I can not believe that your engine has "arrived". You mean to tell me that a expert like you would buy a mail order engine to put into his 181. I am very dissapointed in you! I hope that you meant to say that your engine componets have arrived and are ready for assembly? please explain further. |

No need for disappointment- the engine that I bought was an original Thing engine, complete with exhaust, skid plates, and tin. Now it sports twin kads, and the rest has been freshened. I wanted the proper engine for the car, and this one was a real good deal, even including shipping... but it ain't no mail order piece. |

Cool! I just had to give you a hard time, if you were going to put a mail order motor in your 181. I am in the process of building another engine for my 181, I am building a 2110cc stroker, I am hoping that my machineist will have my heads done tomorrow, he is a national sand drag record holding engine builder, I have spent many, many hours in his shop the last couple of weeks learning how truely poor the quality of cheap aftermarket VW parts/engines are, so I am glad to hear you are using a real engine not a mail order pos! |
