A little update, I am slowly trimming the rear clip area to fit. I've POR-15'd the inside panels of the car and now I just need to trim and finish fitting the piece.

Looking good Chris! I unpicked the seam from the inside of the doorpost on my vert pieces, so I could use the sedan door posts as the cabriolet ones were knackered. I hope it goes together again! Rolling Eyes Yours looks much closer! Very Happy

So here's an update, I'm slowly trimming the rear clip to fit. I have it so it fits in the door post, now it's just trimming the overlap on the side sheet metal.

You obviously know your metalwork, still cant understand why you cut up a lovely straight tintop to do it. Shame that...

Aight, finally trimmed it to fit! Now I've started the welding. I ran out of welding wire, so I had to stop, but it's getting done!

Thanks! I'm going to weld up the convertible support rails to the body. I think the pan will be fine as long as the body is rigid enough. I mean that's how they rolled out of the factory.

Well... It's very slow going, lol. I've finished most of the welding but I still need to grind it smooth. Thanks for asking!

Looking good Chris! Windscreen frame next? Remember what I said about splitting it at the scuttle to front quarter panel joint - it'll keep all the strengtheners inside the frame.

Helmot (Lyndon?) - if I could find a nice clean tin-top I'd chop it to make a Karmann 'vert - mine is being patched together with bits from all sorts of differnt cars! It'd be so much easier to do what Chris has done! Wink

Another update... I've had the week off of work so I've been making progress a little quicker... I removed the windshield piece ("Windscreen" for the UK crowd).

I've slowly been trimming it into place and I'm hoping to start welding it in tomorrow.

I also finished welding up the firewall

Wow Chris, you're really going for it. Coming along nicely. Do you have the convertible top frame to check the fit for that part? I may have an extra one if you're looking.

Just relized your placing a vert top on a sedan bottom. sweeeet dude!

Hell Ya cut up that sedan. anything to save a vert !

I took a totally rust 99 % free 62 sedan complete and chopped it to hell to save my 63 vert. New mexico is the place to go for a donor. I did not have to use any cheap steel. got it all from the sedan !

I made all my money back off the rust free sedan scrap's and door's interior ,Parts etc. and made 1300 bucks on the deal !

went to the Daytona Winter Jam this year, seen 5 verts out of hundreds of sedans, and 3 of those were super bettles Sad
