Ok, changing topics.
Any recommendations for restoration shops in northern california? Want a custom job (paint, lowering, motor etc) and looking to go down to bare metal and rebuild.
Does anyone know this bus and it history? It came from Santa Cruz, CA.
Any comments/feedback appreciated.

Good job, looks like a nice bus. Now if you wanna sell it, let me know.
If Volks Cafe did indeed have the bus, I might know it. There is a good chance it came out of the Santa Cruz area. |

Jeffffffff,
Man I butchered your name =). Hey, it did come from Santa Cruz. What do you know about it? It is missing the M-code plate which makes me suspect about it being an original 23 window. Birth certificate is on order. Let me know.
tks |

This is what I "know" about the bus. Read my post in the whines and then about a page or so worth of comments.
Did you buy it from volkscafe?? If not contact them, I'm sure he could give you some info on it. IIRC yes the m-plate was missing but from talking to the PO I did not get the indication that the bus wasn't an orig 23. |

Jeff,
Thanks man, we are talking about one in the same bus. But now after reading your post, I am really suspect. I wrote Volks Cafe a couple months ago about this and got this:

> I do recall the bus. It was owned by a local family. The father fixed it up about 15 to 20 years ago the way that it currently looks and drove it pretty regularly. His health started failing about 5 to 8 years ago and then it just sat in the garage. His son contacted me to buy it because they are very private people, his father was in last stages of illness and he was trying to help his parents clean up loose ends. I cannot give you their name / contact information because they sold it to me specifically because they did not want to be bothered. Our recollection was that it was a real walk through and was very solid - not rusted at all and don't believe there were any signs of metal replacement. Only negative that we remember was that it was missing the M-code behind the front seat.

I hope the birth certificate tells the real story about this car. |

I don't know why you would be "suspect" Obviously I didn't get all the particulars on why he was selling it. Based on my original post the gentlemen definately was a weird duck . He did tell me it was in the family for years and that it was being sold because they weren't driving it anymore.
I can't see why VC would lie and what they told you kinda makes sense. Get a B.C. and see I guess. |

Received the birth certificate..says its a 251, walk thru deluxe.
Question: How do I know it is a real 23? If the M130 code is not there, does that mean it is a real 23?
Or is there a code that should be there if its to have sunroof and skylights? |
