j dirge,
With only one dual jet installed, how can you stand it with one side of the windshield can be washed cleaner than the other side ?

I find it helps offset the Westy lean.
The second one will go in when I pull the dash next yr.

Anything west of Sunset is "outer"... Those hi-falutin homes up east side of Sunset Ave are the "inner" Sunset.
I am out by "Other Avenues", Judah and 45th. Give me shout if your ever in the neighborhood. _________________ -89 GL Westy, SVX.. finally.

im just going to vent and say i bet no matter what nozzles you have they wont work wortha !@#$ at 50+ mph in an 80-87. im so pissed that they waited until '88 to actually put them in the right place. i have an 86 and i have spent untold hours months it all runs together trying to get the driver side nozzle to clean the window whilst at speed. passenger side works great. pump works great. drivers side works great around town. ive even replaced the nozzle. that was fun. then i noticed an 88 one day and got mad, real mad. it really took eight years for the engineers to figure that one out? great i thought to myself guess i need to sell my van and get an 88 so i can have clean windows. or do some body work. Why? because they put the nozzle right where its most effected by the air flowing by the front of the van and over the windshield wiper. no matter how its adjusted the spray always gets disrupted by the airflow. |

Interesting... I never noticed that there was a difference, but in this pic that I composed for a ride height thread the difference is pretty clear between my '85 and '88 vans:
So maybe what you need to do is put another single nozzle sprayer in the '88 position and leave the stock nozzle... then you get two sprays for the driver's side. It would look a little funky, but you wouldn't have a hole to plug.

Glad you posted that.. The one little problem that keeps these squirters from being REALLY great, is that due to the driver side positioning on the 88-91s, they squirt half thier load into the wiper blade assembly itself. Enough gets thru, though. And if you squirt when the wipers are already moving, then they work great.
In spite of that, they get enough up on the glass to work much better than OEM. _________________ -89 GL Westy, SVX.. finally.

I'm sure they do... that's why I've been following this thread. I'm pretty nit-picky about trying to keep the windshield clean and the stock setup is pretty anemic. I appreciate the legwork you guys have done on identifying a workable replacement.

My Westy was built in 9/86 and it has the driver side nozzle at the old place. My tin top was built in 3/87 and the nozzle is already at the new location. The twin jet at the old location should work better than the single jet I would think. _________________ Steve

thats interesting. i always assumed the more inboard position on the (edit)87 and up would be better. though i havent driven one to confirm. although you say yours hits the arm, when its not hitting the arm will it spray where you want it too on the highway? |
