Check out those drag marks. That's why I like a drum puller.
Getting that thing on/off the trailer doesn't look fun.

DD Panels aren't super rare, but that doors both sides option is sure a handy feature.
Just tweak the doors back into shape, and weld that hinge back on.
Nice score for $350! Look Ma, no hacks!

That shit'll buff out!

not to burst your bubble, but those "drag marks" were from a car that previously sat where this thing was put for me to pick it up. That thing rolls like a dream! the only problem is stopping it.......that might take a Saturday to figure out. Concensious around here is that I need to figure out how to get those doors shut and stay shut so that I can keep everything OG for now. I dunno....everyone's nuts 'round here Smile

dude,
$350 is a hellova score. that OG partition alone is worth $300. Not to mention the belly pans. not saying you're going to cut it up or anything cuz that would be wrong Crying or Very sad , but you get this bus running and looking good and you have a nice investment on yer hands!
one tip though, cuz i just did this on my 61 dd, when you do get it running and you open heater boxes for the first time, duct tape one side of the heater vent hole on floor of cab, leave the other side of vent open but shove a vacuum hose down there, then rev engine and you'll see a bunch of mouse shit and nests come out of there (getting sucked up by vacuum of course Laughing ). if you don't do that you'll get a bunch of mouse shit and nests in your face when driving BTDT Embarassed !!!
nice score

Those go for $150 or so. I had 4 of them last year. Bought all of them for $100 or less, sold all of them for $100-$150. With glass.

I buffed it out and have been slowly getting everything I need to keep it on the road legally. I'm going to lower it and build a very reliable motor this spring for it.

check out my pictures for recent pictures of it.

I only wish I could find a SWR DD panel in a scrapyard...and for only $350! And it cleaned up really nice too. Good work!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Corey, it's almost low. I've had some setbacks here this summer so progress is slow, but I almost have my beam completed and then on to the rear. Now I find out that I'm going to have to change out my e-brake cables to later ones......any help there?

You should be able to use your current e-brake cables. I'll see if I can find the thread about it.

EDIT: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=362493&highlight=ebrake

Look at the sixth post down in this thread. You just need to shorten the steel cable housing that passes through the backing plate by about an inch.

great! thanks for the help. I was going to say, when I took apart mine vs. Jayson's, there was defenitly a difference in how they are held in. Hopefully it'll be rolling yet this fall.

I finally got my tie rod ends. I just bought an adjustable splitty tie rod and an adjustable bay tie rod, took the ends off and put them on my narrowed tie rods. I was waiting for a bunch of rubber for my beam too that I finally got, so now I just gotta get out there and get it all put together and set down on it's wheels again.

I got a 4.5" narrowed adjustable beam that fits in the bus very nicely. I'm hoping to go as low as I can without having to do frame mods. I really don't see the point in hacking out structural integrity to make it look cool. Besides, if I wanna get THAT low, I'll just drive my bug since that's about a 1.75" off the ground in the front.
