Just starting our fuel line project-- there are those little plastic clamps that pop into the fram and hold the lines-- they won't fit around our new line-- okay to use zip ties here?

The clamps are there to isolate any metal contact to the fuel line that may cause abbrasion and wear over time because of vibration and movement. If you can find a way to keep this from happening using zip ties that would be fine, but be careful if you tie them tight to the frame.

Coming from a guy who has a bazillion cable straps holding various things in place....

I bet the straps would be ok, but since it's fuel line, cruise by your FLAPS and check out the HELP parts section for something similar/same. Or, they may be able eye ball a part that would work. If you go that route, it might help to measure the ID of the hole that the stock clip fits into and have that info handy (plus OD of hose) when at your FLAPS.

Take a piece of rubber tubing maybe 2" long, slit it lengthwise, push it onto the tube where it touches the frame, and zip tie.

x2. Heater hose works good for this.
