Hi when did they start/stopped making the Kienzle rearview mirror clocks?

On the pictures you see mine from 9/53 and my friends that he just found this past week end, that dates from 2/54.

Not sure when they started, but I would guess it was with the Zwitter. I say this because the Zitters did not have a clock like the deluxe splits.

When did they end????? The latest I could find them listed in catalogs was 1957/58 from Stahlgruber. VDO had them listed in their 1957 brochures.
When the big windows started, VDO offered clocks for the grill beside the speedo. So I would say it ended with the intro of the big window Bugs.

Cheers

John

If anyone has a clock that has "VDO TACHOMETERWERKE GERMANY FIVE 5 JEWELS UNADJUSTED" printed on the face......check the dates....I have seen them dated 1957. I have an oval VDO glove box clock and a brown split VDO glove box clock with this writing and have seen the rearview mirror clock also. I think that they made a second run of these clocks in the later 50's which included this writing on the faces.....just my .02 Wink I can't find a date on my clocks though Sad

I saw a mirror clock this summer that only read VDO on the face, and not KIENZLE and VDO like mine.
Maybe that was a later one? I might have a picture of it somewere.
