I have a vanagon with a VR6 from a 2000 jetta in it. The VR6 had to be converted back to OBD1 to make it work.
The last couple days the motor has been acting odd once the motor has warmed up. When it is cold, and just started it runs fine. But once it warms up, the idle is very high. I am trying to figure what it might be. Any ideas?

I discovered that there was too much tension on my throttle cable and it wasn't letting the butterfly close all the way.

it ended up being more than that though, it still wouldn't idle right. So I bought a new throttle body. it had the TPS built into it. it made it run alot better, but it still sometimes isn't quite right. I am just about to order a new coil and ICU.

If you're running OBD 1 stuff, then you should have a seperate idle control valve. If it's faulty, it can cause a high, low or erratic idle. I would blame that before the coil. A bad coil will cause misfires, especially under load.
