In Sudden Impact (Dirty Harry's 1983 film) Harry is interviewing widow Kruger at her fish market. There is a Red 1968 Deluxe Transporter in the background.

As calexander quite rightly posted there was a Beetle in Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Actually it was shown twice.

My guess is that someone had a particular interest in that car being "in shot". In one of the final scenes the two main (boy/girl) characters are walking hand in hand through a door in the middle of a snow covered street. I had to smile that the camera man blatantly veered off to the left slightly just so the Beetle was shown better. Laughing

Quick scene in "Point Blank" where Lee Marvin runs a convertible into freeway overpass piers to shake a bad guy passenger into talking. Three of the cars he drives by are bugs in this '67 film. Fortunately, he missees them all!

Just watched "the rock" the other day in the chase scene the hummer rips through a fat chick painted super hippy, when the street car derails it pushes another car into a ghia.

I took the girlfriend out for a date night last night and part of it was going to see, "Easy A.". Wasn't the least bit excited about; this changed quickly when a yellow Beetle (my guess is 72-73) appears in two different scenes. Luckily it is in California(I think...) as the best close-up reveals a pretty rotty windshield seal.

I don't know if it's been posted before, but my parents told me about this movie:

http://www.ruthfilms.com/the-beetle.html

They saw it as part of an independent film festival and said it was playful, I've yet to really check it out, but for my parents it reminded them of their years with a late 1969 bug.

Now this was something I was suprised to see.

Picture taken from a montage of images from the new Kamen Rider movie coming out. Kamen Rider is a Japanese kids show with many incarnations since it's beginning in 1971. The last show was a good one, taking much of its atmosphere form old 'hard boiled' detective stories, like The Long Goodbye.

They found a Beetle in Junkyard Wars and got it running which is no real surprise.

At about the 2:44 mark, you can see Franco's Interior Minister, Serrano Suner, being shown ''the three Volkswagens.''

A little more about this clip: Suner had been summoned to Berlin as a plenipotentiary because Hitler, having been stymied in the Battle of Britain, was looking for alternative ways to bring the British Empire under pressure, and wanted Franco to attack Gibralter. Franco, of course, refused.

William Shirer mentions these meetings in Berlin Diary as having taken place on September 18, 1940; he discusses them further in Rise and Fall.

"Tommy"

There's at least one in pile of cars where Roger Daltrey begins his relationship with a pinball machine.

Just saw a re-run of Seinfeld. Kramer is pursuing his acting career in CA, runs out of the print shop with his head shots and jumps into a KG comnvertible. As he pulls away, his headshots get dumped out on the ground in front of a parking cop. This links him to the murder of a girl he was at an audition with.

Last night we watched the original version of THE HITCHER. I had forgotten about the beetle in the beginning.
