Its an epic adventure with these stock carbs. might as well have gotten some IDF's and short mani's for all the time and money you got into the solex's.

missing the whole point then -- the stock oilbath air cleaner...

He had ICT's on it previously.

All passages in a carb are accessible. You may have to drill a galley plug, but they are acceessible.

Stock oil bath is a WAY better filter system than any of the paper filters supplied with after market carbs.
Any of the little 1"-2" paper filters will restrict your breathing at high RPM.
Plus, you are sucking in hot air from inside the engine compartment, instead of nice cool air from the fresh air plenum.

Yep. Some nice, new Spanish 40 IDF's would work just fine on a 1776.

since there's no action on the car this week, I've been playing with an app called poladroid -- takes your pics and makes 'em look like a 70's Polaroid took the pic:

the French to English translation is a little perplexing at times, but pretty slick app...

There seems to be an overabundance of wingnuts these days.

IT RUNS!

It's like a completely different engine now -- smooth at idle, smooth transition and smooth at speed... I never knew how much the ICT's were holding this 1776 back...

I've got some more driving to do and check the spark plugs to determine if we are running rich or not, but it seems all is well...

Congratulations are in order. Go drink a cup of coffee, or what ever you drink.

I knew you and Danny could get it.

once we got the clogged passage problem cleared, we found that there was a nice-sized vacuum leak at the manifold/head...

not to mention a severely-warped carb body that you could see daylight through...

gotta love quality work....

but done is done... Cool

due to SnowPalooza '11, which dumped about 16" of snow on us, we haven't seen the mail-person at our house since Monday, so I stopped by the post office to pick up our lump of mail and to my surprise, this was in it:
