Interesting side rear window configuration. Was that something added to the top AFTER ordering it? Or was it ordered with the top from the beginning.
Oh,....nice tires. _________________ Walküre Restoration Thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=737492 |

Drove up to the trailhead for Trout Peak (it's the peak in the background, right above the convertible top) today. Thing did amazing on the tougher parts of the road. Good hike, but not all the way to the top. Check out the trail description - if any of you are ever in Cody, let's drive up again!

Wes.......
Once I get Hermann raised back to standard height...figure next spring....and dependable enough for the trip, we might bring him over to Cody.

BNMike,
That would be awesome. We could take a couple of drives if you like. We could "trade" if you want, as I went to school in Spearfish a long time ago. I would love to get to the hills with my family. Maybe if you come over here, you could take us on adrive when we get over there.

Here in Monterrey Mexico, is a guy that makes taylor made tops for any convertible, like things, jeeps, trackers, bugs, etc.
When I ordered him my new top (about 1 year ago) I asked him to modify the original top with this side windows, because I wanted to have better rear view, and a more original thing....
Also I told him to modify the opening of the front side curtains, and made it larger, so I could get more fresh air.

I installed my new steering gear box. Sa-Wheat!! It removed an ugly rattling noise and vibration from my Thing. I haul butt down some wash-boarded sandy roads to my house. It's ALL tight now. Man, what a huge difference.
I had bought some paint for a future project. Eastwoods "Hot Rod Flatz" Orange paint. I think I'm going to take on the rest of the body in the spring after the snow season. Just a thought right now. _________________ "Okay, so there's 6 beers and 5 of us. You know what this means don't you? 4 of you are going to have to leave."

Took my girls for a fall country cruise. Love that gas heater!
Goofing off looking at some sheep
My little one can't see unless we open the door , she'll grow out of it
We spent and hour or two cruising and checking out farm animals and wildlife. Great afternoon. _________________ Central Jersey Volkswagen Society - President |

Ha, I'm still riding with the top down.
Gas heaters are great, I may have to poke some holes in the 74 and put mine in. _________________ Old City Oil Drippers Northeast |

New fuel filter and fuel pump...thought I was having fuel delivery issues... turned out the plastic ring in my electronic ignition was cracked and causing the sputtering, coughing, rough running issues! Installed a new electronic ignition. Thought what the heck while I'm here I'll change out the plugs (a bit of a challenge with the dual carb set-up), adjust the valves and get her timed... All that in a little over 3 hours! A quick cruse around the block tells me everything is working!
If you can't rebuild it in the parking lot of Walmart...you shouldn't own one! _________________ PRAISE THE LOWERED.

I replaced the non-existent shift rod bushing. WOW what a friggin' difference, it truly is like night and day....
Also tightened down a trailing arm pivot bolt that was working it's way loose, and checked my valves, it always feels good to say you checked your valves not adjusted your valves.
Then I popped the front doors off and dropped the top and took it for a little drive to a buddies house... |

Saw her for the first time since they finished the paint. She still has some minor things to perfect but she's starting to look like a car again. Got to put some stuff back on her. Bringing her as is to the Pasco County Bug Jam next weekend for a sneak peek. _________________ S&J
