|
|
I am pretty well finished with my aaz conversion. Just checking some loose ends here and there. I bought a stand alone glow plug controller. The trouble I'm having Is finding a 2 wires to connect to it. I need one for the on position and one for the start position on the ignition for this thing. Do I need to run the two wires all the way from the front? Or are there two in the engine bay that will work already? I don't want to run a toggle switch for it. Want it to look as neat and clean as possible. I was looking in the Bentley but I'm not so good reading the diagrams. _________________ 95 GMC Yukon 6.5 TD 2 Door Tow pig/ Daily driver.

In the engine compartment wiring box there is a separate black wire that has key-on-power. One of the round 7 pin connectors has a red/black wire with starter-on signal.

A double tap relay may be what you need. Key on=default contact. Start circuit = energized only with key on.
BTW the glow plug temp control should cut power when the block is hot enough or else your plugs will burn out. _________________ LEARN TO SELF RESCUE

Yeah its got a temp sensor on it as well. All in one tidy little unit just 3 wires. The one to the batt and then those two. I will check I know where the keyed on power wire is now that you mention it being black. I will check and see if I can find that red and black wire. _________________ 95 GMC Yukon 6.5 TD 2 Door Tow pig/ Daily driver.

The typical VW glow relay should have something like 7 wires to it. I like to run a wire from the glow plugs to the dash to a flashing led to let me know when the glow plugs are really getting power. I still have the glow light to tell me when it is ok to crank the starter but the flashing led lets me know that power is really at the plugs and I can see how long the glows stay powered after the glow light goes out.

Well those three are just for power. Just to get it hooked up. It has an led lead and a the temp lead with sensor on it. And a ground So I guess it has 6 wires. _________________ 95 GMC Yukon 6.5 TD 2 Door Tow pig/ Daily driver.

Lets see.
1- key on power for relay logic
2- ground for relay logic
3- temp sender in
4- start signal in
5- led for dash out
6- main power in for glows
7- main power out to glows
