I am currently looking at a thing that has a engine but doesn't run. has straight body but not good paint. has hard top and soft top. has interior but it isn't very pretty. has stock wheels. has both bumpers. |

I looked at two cars together in similar condition in Dallas for $1500 each. But they needed everything from the tires up. If you are into redoing vws you should consider a car--cheap--that needs it all. Then start the process. When you're done you will have a car that is worth something and a hell of a lot of fun to own. And stay away from cars that have not been carefully maintained, if you just want a cool Thing to drive and NOT work on. Jump in and make an offer on it! _________________ NTHANG, LLC |

|
|
We bought ours for 1500 and have invested 4 times that amount to build a nice 1600 Turbo Thing.
If your willing to spend the money for the rebuild, then go for it. But really check out the car from top to bottom, and if you get one that has not been maintained as mine wasn't, then be prepared to pay.
Here are a few pics, of the car in the rebuilding stage and it will have to go back to the body shop to redo the front because of mess up when the fenders were mounted and molded in, will add pics of the motor this week as soon as the turbo is mounted.

This is not to discourage you from buying one, just shop around before you buy.
Good luck, Peter |
