After answering this question in the barndoor forum, I was wondering what everyone's favorite split bus (post barndoor) is. Lots more to choose from. Still in existence ONLY!!!!
I guess mine would be the Gillette Music 1958 dd/wt (couldn't find picture), the dollar coffee high roof from page 257
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1...start=5120
and my first Bus, a 63 deluxe.

my all time favorite car ever is my own '61 standard bus. it has huge sentimental value for me. I have owned it for 18 years now, driven it through 27 states, driven it across the country and back twice, driven it to over a dozen dead shows, driven it over 170,000 miles, etc, etc.

now if I had to choose one that I don't own, it would certainly be this one. '58 VW factory doubledoor walkthrough deluxe sunroof. best year, best options, best model.

i'm torn between the traditional:
belongs to sharon and steve that do the texas vw classic. this bus got me to really liking split windows back when i had my first bay (77 red and white deluxe)
and the ultra cool:
belongs to kevin. i really like the idea of a flip seat, they are ultra roomy inside because the seat takes up less space, which i think would be a plus for camping. and the fact that that bus goes anywhere and does anything you want it to is a real plus since i usually drive lowered busses _________________ proud owner of a defunct 1979 sunroof kombi

i guess my favorite bus that i have owned is the KING panel. it's a march of 58 walkthru panel with something like 42K miles on it. it's rough and rusty, the running gear is tired but to me personally- it's the ultimate bus. it's logo'd, it's an original philadelphia dealer sold bus, it has hurst bumpers which were made locally, about 3 miles from my house, i bought it about two miles from where it originally sold. it is supposedly the only bus in existence that is still wearing it's original to the bus from back in the day hurst bumpers. i got it for $200 and it was a day away from being cut up.

rolling down the highway:
on the lift for service:
interior shot:
1250 miles from home in florida for bulli brigade:
