72k mile 1965 Notchback Found me!!

So 2 sundays ago i decided to drive my 64 vert to my dads to watch the football games, during a game a man knocks on the door and says he likes my vert, also states he has a 65 notch sitting in his garage, trying not to sound too excited the man gives me his #. I call him later that day to see it ( he also lives a few blocks away from my dads house). As he opens the garage i find a 72k mile original notch, what was once original paint stripped in some body panels, as i open the door the dash is flawless, nice headliner, prestine door panels and clean seats( not sure if the seats are og), the car has no rust whatsoever(besides surface rust on some panels from bare metal). He starts the car right up and it purrs, still 6 volt also, original plates and keys, also has both trunk liners intact and nice. he also gave me a good history of the car and said he was the one who had a body shop strip the paint but pulled it out since it sat for over a year also losing interest in the car, ive missed my fasty and told my wife i always wanted a notch since then.. I couldnt pass up the deal so i brought it home, kinda rambling on but just wanted to share my story, heres a couple pics for now

I was gonna jump in and say the seats are wrong, but looks like the 65 pearl white car had a "73 red cord pattern option", pretty rare I would say if that's what it has. Very Happy

Nice score. The dash and door panels look great. Still has a gray e-brake boot and everything. The seats would have originally been "mesh red" as on my former '65 square:

yes i got all the parts that are removed including the bumpers which the po had rechromed,as well as most of the window and door rubber from ispwest and trim, i will get more pics posted later today, im planning on getting the outside resprayed in the og color soon

believe me i would love to keep the og paint but most of it has been stripped down, the only paint salvagable is on the roof, ill just say i got a great deal on it and yes i did drive it home but wasnt running right, messed with it a bit to find a clogged idle jet, ran like a champ after that

,was reglueing the carpet that has been replaced but found the worn original rubber mat underneath,also found the original tool kit under passenger seat!

thanks, i did start thinking of keeping whats left of the og paint and respraying whats been sanded down, but it would be tough to make it all match correct,its a shame someone would do that to the og paint..so i guess ill have to primer it for now till i save up for a nice paint job Crying or Very sad

thans neil, decided to primer the whole car, to much of the og paint was stripped to preserve it, soim gonna start bodywork and respray the outside in the og L87, but for now ive been enjoying driving this car as is, i also bought some euro flat taillight lenses for it

quick update on the notch, ive been enjoying driving this car daily while ive been home, and hooked up the other heater box and boy what a difference, it works almost too good. Anyways my main concern is while driving at night with my lights on obviously the headlight switch gets pretty warm, i checked all my grounds and connections and they all appear to be clean and well connected, any opinions or is it normal, keeping in mind that the car is still 6v.

so ive been slowly cleaning up this car and fine tuning it getting all the bugs out and ive been enjoying it a lot, heater works great, im getting the stock wheels powdercoated right now so i decided to lowere it a little and slap on my brms, heres a couple more pics i took, i also got a body shop inline for a outside respray in L87
